Have you got the best two-minute spoken word poem in WA? Are you ready to SLAM your original work at the Australian Poetry Slam 2025? Up for grabs in WA is a $1000 cash prize for our state winner and $500 for the runner-up. Plus, both will be flown to Sydney for the 2025 national final in October. Where Fame and Glory awaits! The 2025 National "Slambassador" will win a prize worth $20,000, including publication and a tour of Australasia!

WHERE? In the 459 Bar at the Rosemount Hotel, North Perth.
Doors open and signups at 4.30pm
Slam starts at 4.45pm sharp.
$10 Entry / $5 Concession.

Heat 2 is the THIRD of THREE Perth WA Heats of the 2025 Australian Poetry Slam. The three heats are standalone events. If you miss out this heat - you can try again in Heat 3.
Limited spots available.
Any West Aussie can enter! All ages welcome.
Please be aware that this event is held at the 459 Bar in the Rosemount Hotel - a licensed venue. Which means if you are under 18 you must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The WA Final will be held on Saturday 23 August in the Main Room of the Rosemount Hotel, where the Winner and Runner-Up of each heat will battle it out over two rounds.

Here's the basics:
Performing writers are given a microphone, a live audience, and just two minutes to capture the crowd.
The host selects five judges at random from the crowd. After each performance, judges hold up score cards using a 1-10 scale, with 10 being the highest. Of the five scores for each poet, only the middle three scores are counted. The judges’ decisions are final.
Two performers with the highest scores in each heat will proceed to the WA Final.
14 slam spots will be available at the venue on the day.
